Callaway Golf Malaysia through Leonian Singapore has just recently launch the most awaited final two pieces to the complete line up of the EPIC series. The dream iron – “EPIC STAR Iron” and “EPIC PRO Iron” as well as the “EPIC STAR Utility” was released to all Callaway authorized dealers in the country earlier this month.
Staying true to its name “EPIC”, the “EPIC STAR Iron” and “EPIC PRO Iron” were developed without constraints of time, material and development cost, a model that deserved to be called a dream iron. These irons came to birth from the unique request of Callaway’s CEO Chip Brewer a few years back to Head of R&D of Callaway Dr. Alan Hocknell, that if he could design the very best iron that he would play, with maximum performance and without any limits to the cost or engineering process, what would that be? With that in mind Hocknell was excited by the endless possibilities for such an ambitious project where he then dedicated more than seventy (70) of the best engineers in golf to the project with two (2) key messages: he wanted groundbreaking innovations, and there are no boundaries.
The “EPIC STAR Iron”, although it has a conventional head design with the highest ball speed and forgiveness, enables golfers to effortlessly launch the golf ball. Meanwhile the “EPIC PRO Iron” has a slightly smaller club head for better control. Both ironsfeature the next generation 360-face cup technology for longer average distance, a new Exo-cage structurefor energy lensing and maximum coefficient of restitution (COR) and with tungsten-inner weight technology to optimize its center of gravity (CG) location. The Callaway’s technology of the “Almost Forbidden Irons” is finally revealed.
As with the irons, Callaway’s R&D went deeper than ever before to elevate the hybrid performance with the new “EPIC STAR Utility”. This is indeed the first Callaway hybrid to employ their triaxial carbon composite crown technology, which is 65% lighter than titanium, the same crown material used to help fuel the groundbreaking performance of the EPIC drivers and fairway woods. By itself, the triaxial crown in these hybrids helped the door to a new level of distance and playability with a highest performing clubface ever installed in a hybrid.
“As the response of the EPIC drivers and fairway woods received such tremendous response and in demand when it was launched last year, there were already request for the irons or hybrids before it was even launched. Since both models of the irons and the utility were made available at all the stores earlier this month, sales had been soaring and we hope to see more and more golfers trusting their game with this “Almost forbidden irons” and the rest of the EPIC series,” said Kevin Yeap, Country Manager of Callaway Golf Malaysia. “Do be on the lookout for our nationwide demos that will be happening real soon or please do come and meet our product specialist at our authorized dealersto find out more and test the clubs, you must give it a try to believe it!” added Yeap.
